The Mill at the End of the World

This is one of my favourite buildings in the world, Chancelot Mill in Leith, Edinburgh. It’s imposing, industrial, kind of ugly and wonderfully out of place next to all the new apartment buildings and across the docks from the glass and modernity of Ocean Terminal shopping centre.

This photo is a bit of a hybrid. It was shot on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 – I didn’t go out with the intention of taking a picture but I can’t seem to pass by this place without doing so – and edited with Adobe Photoshop CC 2014. I honestly can’t remember exactly what I did with it because I was having a bit of a play session. Usually when I open Photoshop, I have a plan in mind and it almost always involves RAW processing and not much else, but that particular night felt like a good time to shut myself in my digital darkroom and experiment, just for fun.

Also, I noticed today that my blog has over 500 followers. I know that’s not a big number in the grand scheme of things but it still makes me happy, especially as I’m working on plans to include more tutorials, reviews and resources here as well as photography. So, followers old and new, hello and thank you for making me smile today!
